The YPSDDPakistan has a current membership of around 500 all over the country, with a strong base in the youth in Karachi. It constitutes a unification of different Youth Organizations, Women Organizations, Peace and Democracy activists including different youth leaderships. It is a new experience of re-groupment of Youth in Pakistan. There are different trends within the organization, but all of us believe that only the theory of permanent struggle offers a way forward to a Peaceful and Democratic Pakistan.
The nucleus of the YPSDDPakistan began in Karachi and in Lahore in 1999, around student activists, who came in contact with each other and developed their theories. The Struggle Group then began open work around a youth forum 'Youth Forum for Development and Democracy of Pakistan' "YFDDPK". In 2000, the group emerged with its own identity. The founding membership of YFDDPK was about 30 Youth, but grew to 100 in 2000.
In 2003, the YFDDPK members decided to form an independent organization of the Youth, using a broad-based name and programme to attract Youth activists, who were very disillusioned after the Military Dictatorship of General Musharraf. In March 2003, the group formally launched itself in Lahore and Karachi as the Youth for Peace, Social Justice, Development and Democracy of Pakistan.
YPSDDPakistan was founded in March 2003 to bring to the attention of the international community the grave situation in Pakistan, Through nonviolent advocacy, activist and academic campaign, YPSDDPakistan has taken up the challenge to fight the military dictatorship and religious fundamentalism/terrorism and is dedicated to bring Peace, Social Justice, Development and Democracy in Pakistan. With support from contributors and volunteers from around the country, YPSDDPakistan Board of Directors and Advisors, and a small staff of employees, YPSDDPakistan strive to build stable Pakistan.
